Lützelau Island, the smaller of the two islands on Lake Zurich, measures up to 300 metres long and 150 metres wide. It has an area of 3.38 ha. Lützelau Island, situated exactly opposite Rapperswil-Jona, lies within the boundaries of Freienbach in the district of Höfe in the canton of Schwyz and belongs to the municipality of Rapperswil-Jona. It lies within a nature protection area. The island formerly housed a convent belonging to the family of Beata and her husband Landolt. Stones were quarried on Lützelau Island for the construction of the Pfarrkirche.
Today, it is possible to bathe and camp on the leisure island of Lützelau. There is a small restaurant serving various delicacies such as fried fish nuggets, hamburgers, grilled food or pizzas. Three fireplaces are also available.
There are seasonal campsites on the beautifully situated holiday and leisure island of Lützelau opposite Rapperswil-Jona that can be rented from 1st May to 30th September.
There are also boat mooring places for long-term rentals. Of course you can also camp in the island for just one night you wish.

Lützelau Island is especially suitable for group excursions. The island fun meet with an aperitif, dinner and coffee treat (Inselkafi) is very popular. The combination of the island fun meet with paddling fun is recommended. You paddle to the island in a team under your own steam in a dragon boat or a canoe.
