Leuzinger AND Schloss CINEMAS Rapperswil

The Schloss Cinema in Rapperswil-Jona is one of Switzerland's oldest cinemas. The first 'moving images' were shown by Willy Leuzinger, the founder of both cinemas, as early as 1906 even before the first cinema opened in Zurich.

Cinema technology, in particular, has evolved considerably over the past hundred years since the first film flickered on a screen in Rapperswil. The changes over time did not only concern the switchover from silent films to talkies and from black and white to colour images. Recently, the two cinemas were taken over by the locally based company Kinoevent GmbH. This was accompanied by a switchover at the two Rapperswil cinemas to fully digital projection. This means that both the Schloss Cinema and the Leuzinger Cinemas are not only equipped with state-of-the-art technology but are also capable of showing 3-D films.

Nowadays, both cinemas screen the newest Hollywood blockbusters as well as film productions from all over the world.
